Claybrooke Primary School

Music

In Music, pupils develop their rhythm and vocal control, as well as the interrelated dimensions of music and musical notations, across the phases using the Leicestershire Music programme of study. As they progress through the school the children have many opportunities to listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians.  They take part in a range of musical and singing performances including productions, the IPAT singing celebrations and Young Voices. In Key Stage 2, the children learn a musical instrument through the Whole Class Ensemble tuition provided by Leicestershire Schools Music Service.

In line with all schools in our Trust, we utilise the highly regarded Leicestershire Music Service scheme of work. It contains clear progression of skills from EY to Year 6, assessment opportunities built into the lessons to enable teacher, peer and self-assessment within lesson time.
